Danielle’s Chili
1lb 99% lean ground Turkey
4 cups low sodium chicken broth
1 can black beans
1 can northern white beans
1 can kidney beans
1 can white beans
1 can pinto beans
1 can diced tomatoes
1 can sliced black olives
1 large onion chopped
4 cloves garlic chopped
2 tbsp tomato paste
2.5 tbsp cumin
1tbsp chili powder
3 shakes Tabasco
Salt/pepper to taste
Optional : Chili pepper flakes
Brown meat, then add chopped onion till soft, add garlic cook 1 min. Add chicken broth and tomatoes. Rinse all beans (always rinse beans it reduces the sodium) and add. Drain olives and add. Stir in tomato paste. Bring to boil. Add spices and Tabasco sauce.
Let simmer for at least 15 minutes.
Depending on how thick you like your chili you can add additional water. Taste your chili and add salt and pepper as needed.
I usually buy low sodium beans, so I end up adding a little salt. If you like spicy add a few chili pepper flakes (start with 1/4 tsp), let it simmer a few mintues and taste – alternatively you can add more Tabasco sauce.
I usually serve with a little sprinkling of cheese and green onions.
